LASU hosts in-House training, urges staff to uphold discipline, focus and commitment

Lagos State University (LASU) has reiterated its commitment to excellence, urging its Assistant Registrars and Administrative Officers to uphold discipline, maintain focus, and contribute meaningfully to the institution’s growth.

This call was made during a one-day in-house training held on Monday, 24th March 2025, at the Senate Chamber, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Ojo campus.

Addressing participants, LASU Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. FANU, emphasized the need for discipline and dedication, cautioning officers against actions that could hinder their career progression.

“The university thrives on its core values of teaching, research, and community service. This training aims to equip you with best practices for modern-day administration and enhance service delivery,” he stated.

Mr. FANU also highlighted the Vice-Chancellor’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare, stressing the importance of diligence, meticulous record-keeping, and continuous personal development.

“I urge you to familiarise yourselves with the conditions of service, embrace mentorship, and safeguard your jobs by actively participating in university activities while steering clear of trouble,” he advised.

The session commenced with a welcome address from the Director of Staff Welfare, Training, and Development (DSWT&D), Mr. Akinwunmi LEWIS, who commended the Registrar for approving the training. He underscored the importance of aligning administrative duties with LASU’s values to ensure impactful service.

Participants benefited from insightful presentations by seasoned administrators, including:

Mr. Oladele OLORUNFUNMI, Deputy Registrar, Non-Academic Staff Division, who discussed “Understanding University Policies and Governance Structures.”

Mrs. Olajumoke BOYEJO, Deputy Registrar, Legal Affairs Division, who spoke on “Effects of Discipline on Effective Service and Successful Administrative Careers.”

Mr. Akinwunmi LEWIS, Director, DSWT&D, who delivered a session on “Ethics and University Administration.”

The training concluded with a robust interactive session, followed by closing remarks and a vote of thanks from Mrs. Yewande ODEYEMI, Deputy Registrar, Training, DSWT&D. The event was moderated by Mrs. Aisha OLUKOYA-SHUARA, Deputy Registrar, Staff Welfare, DSWT&D.
