Lagos State University (LASU) witnessed a historic transition of leadership as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, urged newly sworn-in Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) President, Ayomide Adebobola, and other student leaders to collaborate with the university management in elevating LASU to greater heights.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo Campus, Professor Olatunji-Bello commended the peaceful conduct of the elections and stressed the gravity of the responsibilities now shouldered by the new leaders.
“Let me use this medium to call on our new leaders to join hands with the university management in the campaign against indecent dressing, cultism, and all forms of sexual and gender-based violence in the university. Our goal is to engender a university where all students are free to pursue their goals without fear. Together, we can achieve this,” she emphasized.
The vice-chancellor also lauded the cordial relationship maintained with the 32nd, 33rd, and 34th LASUSU executives, expressing optimism that the newly elected team would uphold similar goodwill, thereby ensuring peace and academic stability across campuses. Congratulating the outgoing executives led by Haroun Tobun and the parliamentarians under Speaker Halimah Hassan, she encouraged the incoming team to honor their oaths and work diligently to enhance the student experience at LASU.
Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, Dean of Students, praised the Vice-Chancellor and management for their unwavering support, while commending students for their peaceful electoral conduct.
He called on the new LASUSU executives to deliver on their campaign promises and uphold the trust bestowed on them.
The president of the LASUSU Court of Appeal, Kolawole Boluwatife, administered the oaths of office, formally inducting the parliamentarians, executives, and President
