The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone D has stepped in to address the alleged extortion by the Ekiti State University (EKSU) management, following a memo released by the EKSU Student Union (EKSUSU) expressing discontentment with the imposed payments.
In the memo, EKSUSU, represented by its President and General Secretary, vehemently opposed the fees imposed by the school management, prompting NANS Zone D to intervene. Comrade Adianu Bertram, the Director of Campus Emergency and Union Election Monitoring at NANS Southwest (Zone D), issued a press release today, assuring EKSU students that the matter has been reported to both the Zonal and State leadership of NANS.
The statement from Comrade Adianu Bertram emphasized the student body’s stance against the alleged extortion and expressed concerns about the effectiveness of the EKSUSU leadership in defending the rights of the student populace. Bertram urged EKSU students to remain calm, emphasizing that NANS Zone D would take decisive action to address the issue in the best interest of the students.
The news of NANS Zone D’s involvement has brought a sense of hope and solidarity among the students, who have been facing financial challenges due to the additional payments imposed by the school management. Many students have expressed relief, believing that NANS Zone D’s intervention will lead to a fair resolution of the matter.
The EKSU administration has not issued an official response to the allegations of extortion or NANS Zone D’s involvement at the time of this report. However, students remain optimistic that the combined efforts of NANS Zone D and EKSUSU will ensure a just resolution and protect the interests of the student body.
EKSU students, along with the broader community, eagerly await further developments as NANS Zone D takes proactive measures to address the concerns raised by the student union, fostering a sense of unity and determination among the student populace.
