The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the mounting of 16 new courses for Osun State Polytechnic Iree.
This followed the success recorded in the resource accreditation exercise conducted in the institution between 2nd and 5th May, 2023 when officials of the Board visited the institution to access the facilities and personnels available for each of the courses.
The officials discovered during the visitation that there were state of the arts equipment and erudite personnels both academic and non-teaching staff that were preeminently qualified for the institution to mount the programmes.
A statement signed by Architect Ngbede Ogoh, Director of Polytechnic Programmes on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board and addressed to the Rector of the Institution stated that ” with reference to the Resources Inspection exercise carried out by the Board at your institution from 2nd to 5th May, 2023, I am directed to inform you that the Board has granted approval to your Institution to offer the following Programmes with effect from 2022/2023 Academic Session.”
The programmes according to the statement are: HND Science Laboratory Technology (Biochemistry Option), HND Science Laboratory Technology ( Environmental Biology Option), HND),HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option), HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Automotive Option) and Welding and Fabrication Engineering .
Others included ND Marketing, ND Procurement & Supply Chain Management , ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, ND Library and Information Science, HND Arts and Design (Graphics Option), HND Arts and Design (Textiles Option), HND Building Technology, HND Quantity Surveying, HND Estate Management and Valuation HND Architectural Technology and HND Urban and Regional Planning.
The Board also conveyed the approval of full accreditation to the ND Agricultural and Bio- environmental Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
While reacting, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Tajudeen Adewale Odetayo, who commended the NBTE for its objective assessment of the Institution’s facilities, expressed his unreserved gratitude for the approval given to mount the programmes. He assured the Board that all recommendations given on the courses would be noted and carried out for the smooth running of the programmes
