Trinity varsity graduates 122 as 28 bag first class

A total of 28 students of the Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos State, will bag first class out of the 122 that will be conferred with first degrees at the convocation of the university to be held on Friday.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Clement Kolawole, stated this on Monday while unveiling activities lined up for the third convocation ceremonies of the university.

Kolawole further disclosed that 65 students will graduate in the second class (upper division), 25 second class (lower division) and three students in the third class division.

Farouq Animashaun from Computer Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.95, was announced as the overall best student.

Friday’s ceremony, presided over by the Chancellor, Samuel Adedoyin, will also see the conferment of honorary doctorate degree of Business Administration and Management on President, Architect Registration Council of Nigeria, Dipo Ajayi.

Chief Executive Officer of Coscharis Group of Companies, Dr Cosmas Maduka, will, on Wednesday, deliver the convocation lecture titled, ‘Success in not a Degree.’

The lecture will be delivered under the chairmanship of member, the Governing Council, Trinity University, Dr Olufemi Oyinsan.

The convocation will be preceded by a matriculation of 554 students on Thursday.

Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof Adenike Oladiji is billed to deliver the matriculation lecture, titled, “The Central Place of University Education in Personal and National Development.”

Other activities of the weeklong convocation ceremonies include several student activities, exhibition and socials, alumni visit to the halls of residence, departments, a meeting with management and select members of the Governing Council.

“Trinity University has continued to expand its operations, programmes and facilities to ensure that it is in a strong position to meet the ever-increasing demand of our clients.

“It has recently added skills acquisition in digital literacy and entrepreneur, fashion design, graphic design, photography and videography, hospitality and mixology, addiction science and courier, and logistics management to its programmes to allow students to become entrepreneurs and be job-ready when they graduate,” Kolawole added.
