Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie noodles, has awarded scholarships worth N4 million to 40 junior secondary students and primary school pupils in Choba community, Rivers State.

The scholarship is intended to cater for the children’s educational needs ranging from tuition to books and others.

Ten students and pupils selected from two junior secondary and two primary schools from the four public schools in the community got N100,000 each based on their academic performance in the last session.

The beneficiaries are Community Junior Secondary School; Olobo Premier College; Universal Primary Education (UPE) and State Primary School.

The Group Public Relations and Event Manager of Dufil Prima Food, Temitope Ashiwaju, awarded the cheques to the beneficiaries at a ceremony in Port Harcourt.

While speaking at the ceremony, Ashiwaju said that the gesture was borne out of the need to reward academic excellence and encourage the pupils to do more, noting that it was also a way Dufil could add value to the lives of residents of its host community.

Ashiwaju informed that education is one of the pillars of Dufil’s corporate social investments and Dufil would stop at nothing to ensure that every child is supported to become the best they can be.

‘‘Dufil Prima Foods is passionate about education, and we will continue to support education in Nigeria through scholarships and other social investment initiatives,

‘‘Education is the bedrock for growth and meaningful development of any country. It is also a process of developing the child’s moral, physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing. Dufil believes strongly in this assertion and will continue to play its part,’’ he stated

The Desk Officer, Debate, Quiz and Competition of the Rivers State Universal Education Board, Mrs. Susan Ejiohuo, commended Dufil for the scholarships, and urged other companies and organizations to emulate the gesture to support the government’s effort.

She therefore advised parents to ensure the funds are well utilized to sustain their ward’s education. Ms. Lebura Favour of UPE Primary School thanked Dufil on behalf of the other beneficiaries and promised to make the best use of the support.
