Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, declared an impressive gesture by offering automatic employment to the institution’s best-graduating student, Adedayo Janet.

This was disclosed at the second convocation ceremony of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who is also the visitor to the university, revealed additional support for the academic institution. A substantial grant of N1.2 billion has been approved to facilitate the completion of several abandoned projects on the university campus.

The governor emphasized the importance of timely completion, particularly highlighting the School of Maritime Transport and Logistics at Ugbonla, currently at 60% completion by the Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC). He expressed confidence in its significance for the Ondo State Deep Seaport Project and the broader development of the Blue Economy in the country.

During his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the university of a monthly subvention of N91 million, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the school’s operations.

Furthermore, he pledged to expedite the completion of hostel buildings, initially funded by the Niger Delta Development Commission and OSOPADEC, showcasing a comprehensive approach to supporting the educational infrastructure.

The governor’s announcement was met with gratitude from the academic community, as evidenced by the acknowledgment from the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Adebo Adesomoju, who thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for directing the continuation of the ongoing construction of internal roads within the institution.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Temi Ologunorisa, shared that a total of 1,202 students were conferred with first degrees during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
